Uttarakhand CM Trivendra Singh Rawat graces Pahadi Community Festival “Kauthig2018”

THE COLOURS OF UTTARAKHAND SET MUMBAI AGLOW FOR 10 CONSECUTIVE DAYS

More than 2 lakh people attended the cultural festival – “Kauthig 2018” that was held at the Ramlila Ground at Nerul.

The hon. Chief Minister of Uttarakhand Mr Trivendra Singh Rawat, who graced the PAHADI Community cultural fest “Kauthig 2018” on January 27, in Navi Mumbai, appreciated the efforts to connect Paravasi Uttarakhandi’s, specially youth to their roots, promote its unique culture and unite PAHADI denizens through several community building activities. Mr Rawat in his appeal to the full packed audience said “Without you the houses with locked doors have collapsed and many are on the verge of collapsing in 1000s of villages in Uttarakhand. My appeal to all of you is, pleases often visit and take care of your ancestral heritage and property in Uttarakhand. My Government is taking all kinds of initiatives to help and prevent migration of those who are in distress due to lack of work, employment opportunities, education etc. Those who have migrated for better prospects, pursuing their dreams and have made their mark, I urge them to contribute in whichever way to make Uttarakhand a leading and progressive welfare state.”  
Mr Rawat also met Uttarakhandi Community people and Businessmen at Uttarakhand Bhavan in Vasi and listened to their views, ideas and grievances pertaining to migration, improving rail connectivity between Mumbai to Uttarakhand, creating business friendly environment through favorable policy and public private project partnership.  The CM assured the audience of all possible help, support and cooperation and invited Uttarakhandi Businessmen to setup business and make investments in Uttarakhand. 
From the Hans Foundation, which is involved in various philanthropic activities across the country, pious Mata Mangala ji and Bhole ji graced the occasion and handed over financial aid and pension to widows, physically challenged and those who are suffering from critical illness. The event also had organized a free health camp in association with Hans Foundation, Global Vision, Chand Pariwar Foundation and Red Foundation on Jan 28th which benefited over 200 patients.
The 10 days long fest which is organised by Kauthig Foundation, was title sponsored by LIC and powered by Reliance JIO, introduced people to traditional classical performances by over 200 Uttarakhandi artists, groups such as Challiya, Hemant Butola, Nand Kishore,  singer Kanika Joshi, Jagmohan Digari, Suresh Kala, Rekha Uniyal, Kishan Mahipal, Papu Karki, among others, enthralled the audience
Several prominent personalities from different walks of life belonging to the northern hill state and Maharashtra attended and graced the festival including actress Madhurima Tuli, Himani Shivpuri, actor Hemant Pandey, Govind Pandey, Sanjay Mishra, Tiara Girl Tanishq Sharma, Twisha Bhatt, Minakshi Bhatt, Harak Singh Rawat , Cabinet Minister, Government of Uttarakhand , industrialist Madhavnand Bhatt,  Mohan Kala , Bahadur Singh Bist, Dr Yogeshwar Datt Sharma, Keser Singh Bist, Jaspal Rana, Munna Chauhan (MLA) Manda Tai Mahtre (MLA), Mahpore Jayant Sitar, Ganeshji Naik, Suraj Patil, Ganesh Mahtre, Ravindra Itahpe, Vishal Dholak, Girish Mahtre, Shashikant Raut, Ashok Gauwde, DIG Ravindra Rautela, Ganesh Rautela, Suresh Paney.  LIC Housing Finance MD and CEO, Mr Vinay Shah,  GST Joint Commissioner Manish Thapliyal, Amardeep Singh , KS Panwar, Padam Singh, Anuj Bakshi, Narendra Jang Pange, Additional Commissioner GST Vijay Bahuguna, , Vinod Nautiyal, Deepak Devrani, Gajendra Gaud, added glitter to the show.
The mega festival that ended on Sunday Dec 28, showcased not only the unique cultural nuances of Uttarakhand but also prominently highlighted the growing problem of migration from the hill villages, for which the grand replica of Pahadi house in traditional style has been erected with the theme of “Gaon Ko Savare” to remind and encourage Parvasi families in Mumbai region to take care of ancestral heritage in their respective villages. Matrimonial registrations and on display were Uttarakhandi handicrafts, products, traditional foods and fruit drinks stalls among others during the 10 days festival.

Shri Hira Singh Bhakuni, President, Kauthik Foundation said, “Kauthig is the largest community festival of Uttarakhand which has been successfully bringing the pahari youth in Mumbai closer to their culture and roots. Being away from our homeland, many of our youngsters now a day’s do not know much about Pahari tradition and community.  This festival every year tries to bridge this gap and encourages them to appreciate their pahari art, culture and customs. The core purpose of Kauthig Foundation is to have a creative and inclusive PAHADI Community. We want to build a strong PAHADI Community Identity, Nurture, Preserve, Protect and Promote PAHADI Values, Art, Culture, Food, Handicraft Products and Heritage. Uttarakhand is known for Trustworthiness, Peace Loving and Law-Abiding people who are pure & patriotic at heart (P) adorable (A) honest, humble, hardworking (H), ambitious (A) and intelligent (I). We shall continue to nurture and instill these values among youth and new generation”
